Who We Are
The Kokonas Indastri Koporesen (KIK) is a statutory regulatory institution for the Coconut industry in Papuan New Guinea.
Its origin, however, traces back as far as 1957 where the then, Copra Marketing Board, controlled all copra trading from 1957 to 2001. From 1957 up until 2001 the industry was all about copra and the extraction of copra oil.
The industry has moved into a new direction that goes beyond the dried kernel we all call copra. Since 2014, KIK has been working with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to produce both edible and non-edible High Value Coconut Products (HVCPs) such as virgin coconut oil (VCO), soap and body oils.
The head office is located in Port Moresby, National Capital District, with regional offices in Port Moresby, Kokopo and Madang.
